My name is Holly and I’m a geek (or nerd, whatever your semantic preference) about a lot of different things. When I get into something, I get into it. I stalk it. I’m creeping it behind the bushes when it’s getting out of the shower.

Oh, yes.

For awhile this blog was called Ugly Girl Affirmations and it was meant to document my life as the Ugly Girl. It ended up being more about my nerdliness and less about anything affirming. Affirmations are kinda boring and I realized that, like the morals of stories, the best affirmations are implicit and up to the reader to figure out.

This blog is for the nerds who are nerds for a lot of different things in a lot of different ways. Please comment, I’m always thankful for feedback/a good fight.

  1. Oh my gosh! Just wasted thirty minutes reading your blog posts and laughing. You are pretty fun to e-stalk. Looking forward to seeing you next week. And I will miss the electric blue hair.

    • You’re sweet, thank you. But, weirdly, it became something affirming (certainly not immediately and not in the conventional way). Besides the common wisdom of “beauty developing on the inside,” which is nice, sure, there’s also this idea that, because I’m “peculiar” and smart, I don’t have to settle for anything less than what I deserve. That can be taken a lot of ways. But, you are extremely kind and I appreciate that you took a look around my blog. I hope I don’t bore you.

  3. I am perplexed that you would ever call yourself ugly. Ugly is flat and boring and you have far too much character Holly girl! I like your new take on this blog. Nerdiness is so relatable. ^_^
